I am a graduate mechanical engineering student at Auburn University who worked on PCM-related experiments during undergraduate studies with Dr. Jay Khodadadi attempting to quantify usable waste heat from fluid passing through copper pipes in a thermal energy storage unit. Varying fluid temperatures and orientation angles provide different melt patterns, temperature profiles, and consequent energy storage were evaluated.
